Andrew Davies [University of Sussex Business School, Science Policy Research Unit]
Andrew Davies is RM Phillips Freeman Chair and Professor of Innovation Management at Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex Business School. He is Honorary Professor in the Management of Projects in the School of Construction and Project Management, the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, University College London. His research focuses on the management of innovation in large, complex and high-risk infrastructure projects. He is author of Projects: A Very Short Introduction, (Oxford University Press, 2017), The Business of
Projects: Managing Innovation in Complex Products and Systems, Cambridge University Press (2005), co-authored with Michael Hobday, and The Business of Systems Integration, Oxford University Press (2003, 2005), co-edited with Andrea Prencipe and Michael Hobday. He has published in a range of leading management journals such as California Management Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Research Policy, Organization Studies, Industrial Marketing Management, Industrial and Corporate Change, International Journal of Production and Operations Management and International Journal of Project Management.
Nuno Gil [The University of Manchester, Manchester Business School]
Nuno is a Professor of New Infrastructure Development at the Alliance Manchester Business School. Nuno focuses his research on organization design and value creation. Nuno's research has been predominantly informed by capital-intensive, technology developments. With his PhD students and collaborators, Nuno has developed theory, conceptual frameworks, and methods to illuminate how these so-called ‘mega projects’ can enable social value creation and distribution. More recently, Nuno has started to study the role of organizational design in tackling the grand societal challenges of our time such as slum upgrades and poverty alleviation. Nuno is the leading editor of Duality by
Design: The Global Race to Build Africa’s Infrastructure (Cambridge,
2019) and is working on a forthcoming book for MIT Press, A Theory of Megaprojects and Value Creation. Nuno co-founded and is the director of the Infrastructure Development Research Group. He is also the leading author of two books published with the Project Management Institute - Building Options at Project Front-end Strategizing (2014) and Megaproject Organization and Performance: The Myth and Political Reality (2017). In 2013, Nuno co-founded the international workshop series,
Megaprojects: Theory meets Practice that has been held annually since
2013 and has taken place in four continents in 6 years. Nuno has over ten years of extensive executive education experience, including leadership and teaching roles in the BP Project Management College, and in the forthcoming Leadership Development Programme (SEBRAE, Brasil). He has attracted over £2 million of research funds over the last decade through a mixture of domestic and international grants.
Donald Roy Lessard [MIT Sloan School of Management]
Donald Roy Lessard [MIT Sloan School of Management] Donald R. Lessard is the Epoch Foundation Professor of International Management, Emeritus at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research interests are in global strategic management and large-scale project management. A member of the MIT faculty since 1973, Lessard has served as Deputy Dean of the Sloan School with responsibilities for research, international programs, and executive education. A leader in international management education, Lessard is a past President of the Academy of International Business and Dean of the Fellows of the Academy. An academic advisor to the Brattle Group, he has led major consulting assignments with firms, banks, and government agencies throughout the world. He is a founding advisor to Promethean Energy Corporation.

Franca Cantoni
Graduated in Economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy she holds a PhD in Information Systems at LUISS Guido Carli (Rome). The main topics of research are related to the micro and macro impacts organizational change and outsourcing. She teaches the courses of Business Organization, Human Resource Management and International Human Resource Managemnet both at the graduate and undergraduate level, she is author of several international pubblications on organizational issues.
Edoardo Favari
Edoardo is a chartered engineer with long experience in managing complex projects at international level. He got a doctorate at Politecnico di Milano on large international projects, he is certified Project Management Professional and an active member of the Project Management Institute, he is a university lecturer at Università Cattolica and Politecnico di Milano, he does scientific research and publishes books on project management, megaprojects and sustainability in triple bottom line. He is chairman of the board of directors of PoliPiacenza.
Giorgio Locatelli
Full professor and Chair in Project Business strategy at the University of Leeds. He attracted about £1,000,000 of research founds. He works as a consultant and visiting academic for several institutions, including the IAEA, the UK government, the European Union etc. He is the author of more than 100 international peer-reviewed publications, and sits in the editorial board of several scientific journals including the two most prestigious project management journals: the "International Journal of Project Management" and the "Project Management Journal" (where is senior editor)
Mauro Mancini
Mauro Mancini is professor at the Department of Management, Economics and industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Milano (PoliMI, Italy) and teaches Project Management and Industrial Plants at master degree programs in PoliMiI and post graduate programs at MIP (PoliMI Business School). He is Director of an international Master in Project Management (past director of Executive Master in nuclear Plant Construction Management and master in Strategic Project Management European). He is Vice-Director of MIP corporate relations and lead national and international research and consultant projects in Oil and Gas, Construction, Energy and Infrastructures. He is author of more than 100 international publications mainly focused on Project Management, Building Information Modelling, Megaprojects and Energy (with special focus on nuclear and renewable technologies).
Furio Bombardi [Mediterranean Freight Corridor - Managing Director Transport Engineer and ELA Master Logistician]
Furio Bombardi has developed over 30 years of technical expertise in Design and Management of Integrated Logistical Systems working in different industries and positions. Since
2002 he operates within Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group where he has been in charge of Chemical transportation, of Freight Pricing and new Products development in the Cargo Division of Trenitalia, and he has been the Project Leader and the Logistical Expert of several International Projects. From 2016 to 2017 he has been President and CEO of AFA, an FS / SNCF company managing the Alpine Rail Motorway. On July
2018 he has been appointed Managing Director of the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor. Since 2004 he is in the Board of Directors of the Italian Association of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (AILOG), of which he is currently vice-President.
Paolo Garetti - Confindustria - Gruppo Tecnico Olimpiadi 2026 Paolo Garetti, Managing Director of Costruzioni ed Impianti Srl - one of the founding members of Piacenza Industrial Association, has been involved in Confindustria since 1995 with positions ranging from Deputy Chariman of the Youth Group to Chairman of the ANCE section of Piacenza and member of Confindustria Emilia Romagna and Confindustria Nazionale.
Elected to the Municipal Council of Piacenza in 2012 as a representative of the Civic List "Sveglia", he resigned from the ANCE presidency and remained in office as City Councilor for the entire term until 2017, the year in which, as representative of the Civic List "Prima Piacenza" was appointed Councilor to Public Works, Smart Cities and Sports Infrastructures.
He resigns in October 2018 and, once all the reasons for incompatibility have lapsed, he is appointed Councelor of the Piacenza Building School and subsequently he is appointed member of the Technical Board of Confindustria Nazionale "Sport and Major Events".
Maria Gil [Highways England - Project Sponsor]
Maria Gil is a Chartered Civil Engineer with twenty-five years of international experience, predominantly in the field of transportation and highways both in the public and private sectors, leading delivery and client teams. Maria’s experience includes traffic and highway engineering, port master planning and infrastructure design. She has a wealth of experience in managing traffic and highways teams, and project and programme management of large transport projects.
Aldo Isi [Italferr – Amministratore Delegato]
After graduating in Civil Engineering at the University of Parma, Aldo Isi joined the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group in 1999. After holding positions of increasing responsibility in Rete Ferroviaria Italiana SpA, in February
2016 he was appointed RFI Investments Director. Since December 2018 he is Chief Executive Officer of Italferr SpA, an engineering company of the FS Italiane Group.
Giacomo Melis [Concessioni Autostradali Lombarde - Direttore Generale]
Born in Cagliari in 1970, graduated in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering, specializing in Transportation, he has over 22 years of experience in the transport and infrastructure sector. Married, two children, he has lived in Milan since 2000.
Since 2014 he is the General Manager of Concessioni Autostradali Lombarde S.p.A. (CAL S.p.A), a company jointly owned by Infrastrutture Lombarde S.p.A and ANAS S.p.A. In CAL since 2006, he held the position of Head of Procedurement and Project Manager of the three highways (BreBeMI, TEEM, Pedemontana Lombarda - 4.6 B€ of investments) and was Director of the Technical Area from 2010 to 2014. Previously, he carried out activities of research and teaching at the University of Cagliari, he was a designer and consultant in the field of Transportation Planning and collaborated with Regione Lombardia in the evaluation of infrastructure projects.
Max Panaro [VP Group Organization, ICT, System Quality]
He graduated in Management Engineering at Politecnico of Milan in 1998 and he took a Master in Business Administration at Bocconi University in 2005. He worked in a specialized organizational research and consultancy firm until November 2000 when he joined a Deutsche Telekom Group’s company up to 2006.
From 2006 to 2015 he was in Bain & Company and Boston Consulting Group where, as a core member of the global Oil and Gas Practice, focusing on large capital project management for Oil Companies and EPC Contractors.
Since October 2015 he is leading Organization, Information and Communication Technology & System Quality for Maire Tecnimont Group.
Since May 2018 he is also Chairman of IPMA Italy (International Project Management Association).

Fabio Terragni is a consultant for international organizations (European Union, European Parliament, Council of Europe, FAO, OECD), professor in several universities, responsible for complex projects including the re-industrialization of Northern Milan, the development of highways such as the Pedemontana Lombarda and the TEEM, and today the construction of Line 4 of the Milan underground. He is also a member of the Management Board of Human Technopole and a partner of Alchema, a small company specializing in the design and management of innovation projects, including coworking for technology companies Co + Fabb in Sesto San Giovanni (MI).

Stefano Torresani, 54yo from Trentino, is a civil engineer (Milan 1990), currently General Manager of Sina spa Milan, engineering and consulting company of Gavio Group, global player in the infrastructure sector, 2nd in the world.
He developed his career in engineering, especially in structures, buildings and process management activities.
He has been manager of Italian engineering companies and also in charge of the procedure of construction of BBT Brenner Basis Tunnel at the Italian side (global investment amount 8 B €).
