Piacenza Campus in the heart of Italy's breadbasket

A well-planned site equipped with state-of-the-art teaching tools and facilities: this is Università Cattolica at Piacenza. With its innovative design, the campus provides an atmosphere which encourages dialogue between students and professors, thus creating optimal conditions for learning.

The Piacenza campus is similar to UK or US campuses, with its expansive landscaped areas for socialising and relaxation, and facilities for accommodating both efficient teaching and advanced research activity. The campus is also a microcosm of knowledge and values, which come together in the centre of the Po Valley, the heart of Italy's breadbasket. The local area stands out for its blend of rich culture and productivity.

The university grounds in Piacenza encompass the buildings used for education and research (lecture halls and lab facilities), together with the university chapel, a conference centre, the Sant'Isidoro College, the Gasparini Residence, dining facilities, libraries, study halls, multimedia halls, landscaped areas, and a sports centre covering more than 8,000 square metres.

It was in January 1953 that the Faculty of Agriculture inaugurated its degree programmes, under the guidance of Father Agostino Gemelli.

Since then, the campus has grown steadily, thanks in part to the university's working relationships with public organisations, the business world, and local credit institutions. Such relationships were instrumental in starting up the Faculty of Economics in 1990 and the Faculty of Law in 1995.

With the addition of courses for the Faculty of Education, the campus is now also characterised by its research centres, specialised laboratories, and teaching environments.
